My choice - The Baton

As I see myself running the relay,
the moment of passing the baton is the most crucial time.
See it in slow motion - every step, hands reaching out, handing it to mine

It is at this time I can say "Hey I am not ready" or "Can I really make it?,"
"Is it really worthwhile?"

Then I remember the people who have gone by us, have held that very baton
and said "Hey, will you run now that our years are nearly over."
"Would you carry on the race till your time is over."

For if we see the finishing line and know the purpose of our running,
The stones and hurdles that are in our way will not hinder our very aim.

So I took the baton and said "I'll run," for we shall one day look at one
another and say "Well done!"

So, will you take this baton now and run ahead of me;
Hold on tight, and keep in sight,
The aim and the purpose.

Look ahead my dear sister we will cheer you on
NOT that my time is over
but that we really have to move on..
