GOOD VERSUS BEST

It would be terrible to be busy doing the wrong things your entire life. Wouldn’t it be sad to be serious and committed and faithful - to the wrong thing? It’s possible to do what is good but not what is right. What I mean is this: it is possible to do good things but not the things that are best based on God’s purposes for you. One of the devil’s greatest weapons against my life is to get me busy doing things that are good but that are not right and best for me.

God created each of us with a purpose. That purpose is what’s right for us. Suppose Jesus had become a priest in the Sanhedrin, the highest council and tribunal of the Jews. That would have been a good thing. Suppose He had become a member of the Sadduccees and been one of the leaders in the social structure of Galilee and Judea. That would have been a good thing. Suppose He had become a social worker, helping the poor, having massive crusades, feeding multitudes of people every day with bread and fish. Would that have been a good thing? Sure. Suppose He had devoted every hour to healing the sick and raising the dead. That would have been a good thing, wouldn’t it? Yet it would not have been the right thing for Him.

There was a time when Jesus began to tell His disciples that He would be crucified. They didn’t want to hear that. "Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. "Never, Lord!" he said. "This shall never happen to you!" (Matt 16:22). The disciples’ reaction to Jesus’ purpose was, "We rebuke You. Get that thought out of Your mind. You will not die." But Jesus turned around and rebuked them for their shortsighted perspective. "Jesus turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men" (v23). Jesus was saying, in effect, "I know why I was born. I know the purpose for My life. Don’t distract Me with things that are merely good. I must pursue the highest purpose."

One of the reasons Jesus knew His purpose was that He was continually seeking God and in constant communication with Him. That is the pattern each of us needs to follow. Why? It’s dangerous to live without God. If you don’t know God, you’ll never know your reason for existence. And if you don’t know why you were born, you could live a completely wrong life. I didn’t say a bad life. There are many good people who are pursuing careers, relationships and goals in life that are not best for them. What we have to concern ourselves with is living effectively. The only way to live a fulfilled life is to know why you were born.

Dear All,

Hi hi! Thousand apologies for not updating my blog for sooooo long.. I must thank you all for dropping by so often just to check. Yea yea.. It was a busy period for me. I am doing fine, looking forward to our Break Free seminar which starts on 10th of June.

If you look carefully at the picture above, you will see a bridge. I purposely chose one with a bridge as it speaks a lot to me. To "spiritualize" it, it can mean that we are on a journey and we’re crossing over to a new thing. We have a defined path and though sometimes, the bridge can be shaky, but we are confident it will hold us and we just need to look across and not look down, to go through that bridge and not jump down of course...to walk confidently and not run in panic either...erhm no guarantee there is no broken plank and by one running across may actually cause hurt to ourselves.

We have a God who made us for a purpose and He has a defined path for us to follow - a destiny for our lives. We may be living in mundane, everyday situations of going to work and home, ministry events, or having to face difficulties at work and home etc..and we wonder where God is taking us. Are we really progressing in life? Is this all there is to life?

In times like these, we need to come back to that place of "knowing" there is indeed more. It can only come if we are willing to face these challenges and decide to move on. That is we do not stagnate in our spiritual life just because it was tough going. No matter what life’s circumstances will bring, decide that you will pursue the higher call - that is to live and do what you were designed for. You may not see the full picture, but as we stay consistent and faithful first of all to our relationship with Him, we will never go wrong. We will not take a different path from the one He has for us. Can you trust Him that it is He who holds you? He will carry you, and He will see you through. JUST KEEP MOVING ON!

Hey there! Glad that you're back here! hehe..:) Very meaningful entry today..Amen! We should be glad that God prepared each one of us for life instead of preparing life for us. So this means that whether life is ready for us or not, by hook or by crook, we are ready for it! We will not stumble and fall because He is Emmanuel! We should press on and move on, for He shall journey us through! So, let us not look at our life's circumstances, rather look at the blessings that God has had for us at the end of every problems and challenges..It's indeed worth pressing on and hanging on there.. "For every adversity is an adventure, every pain a pilgrimage, every problem is a path and I believe they all lead to a better place than we are all in currently. Hopefulness is a choice that exists even when there is hurt and pain, because there is LIFE beyond hope no matter how dark the circumstances are.." (Learnt this from Dr. Robert Schuller) cos'we serve a BIG God! Amen???!!!

Hi Princess!

Yea! Amen!! That was a good point by Robert Schuller..and thanks for your comments! Yup, when we have a right mindset, whatever the circumstances, we will still grow if we see them through His eyes..So many battles are lost because of a negative mindset..that leads to a negative attitude in life and ultimately anger at everyone and everything..If we want to journey on..our minds need to be renewed and hearts changed yah.. ;) have a great day!!

hi unknown,

Hope this could help you with adding your links and song for your blog.

Put this html for the link under LINKS in your template of your blog:
a href="http://yourlink.com/"Type the title of your link

Replace this with your own link => http://yourlink.com/

To upload the song in your blog, you have to upload it, either in FTP or geocities or anywhere that let you store your song.. then copy the link the song is uploaded.

embed src="http://www.geocities.com/...." loop=true hidden=true

Hope this helps... but the problem with this comment area is that I can't fully type in the html tag because it's not accepted here.. so, if you need further help, i could always email you the complete html code for this..
