TRIBUTE TO MUM

You have given up your life to serve
The things you do often goes overlooked
If not for your sacrifices and giving of yourself
Where would I be?

Often times you nag more than say words of affirmation
But I do understand now, that when you were little
They never gave to you
What you needed too..

Mum, I have grown up to be what God wants me to be
Guess you understood the day I said “I’m following Him,”
You let me go without saying a word to stop me
You knew I had a destiny..

Thank you for the way you love me
The acts of service that you do is more than words
It is love in action
Thank you for releasing me to the ministry..

I wish we could be friends
Perhaps not now but in heaven
Until then you will always be “mum” to me
Revealing to me your love in your own special way..

Many times your nagging has taken a toll on me
But there again, I would rather hear your voice still
And not wait for the times when you are no longer there
When you meet the Lord in heaven and silence fills the air..

I will enjoy you for who you are and not what
You are supposed to be
With all my expectations of what a mum should be
You are what He has given me and I’m glad to have you close to me.

Just want to let you know that as I am a spiritual mom to you,
You have an earthly mom that you should not let go
She bore you and cleaned your undies
Washed you and loved you in her own special way..

I love being a mom to you
The times I have spent with you, the laughter and the pain
Through it all, I have seen you grow
And it brings me great joy!

Remember that no one else can replace your earthly mom
I don’t intend to; as I can identify with how she would feel
When you don’t show her how much you care
And if you should compare her with someone else..

The bond we share will always be there
Let us share with our earthly moms too and give thanks to God
For the extended families He has given us
How this love that He gave will make us love them more!
